Shorter time to less pain

An innovative product for knee and hip OA, RenehaVis™ is the only product on the market that contains 2 Hyaluronic Acids in 1 syringe for a sequential injection.

RenehaVis™ offers both patients and doctors the DMC concept: Dual Molecular weight and Concentration concept in a single syringe.

A clinical study was conducted studying the effects of RenehaVis™ versus a high molecular weight HA, a low molecular weight HA and placebo. This double blind, placebo controlled, study in Canada showed that patients administered with RenehaVis™ had lower pain scores when walking and at rest compared to the other three arms in the study, notably in a shorter period of time.

Why Different Molecular Weights and Concentrations?

Viscosupplementation products are designed to assist patients with knee osteoarthritis (OA) in restoring a healthier physiological balance within the knee joint. Low molecular weight Hyaluronic Acid (HA) plays a vital role in this process by acting as a lubricant within the synovial joint, helping to reduce friction and improve joint movement.

In contrast, high molecular weight Hyaluronic Acid (HA) contributes by absorbing and cushioning the impacts the joint experiences during daily activities, providing essential shock absorption. Together, these types of HA work to support knee health and enhance joint function for OA patients.

Low Molecular Weight HA

Acts as a lubricant in the synovial joint, with additional benefits:

  • Caging Effect: Protects chondrocytes (cells that support HA and proteoglycan production), which are often damaged in knee OA.
  • Mechanosensitive Effect: Stimulates synoviocytes to produce endogenous HA, enhancing joint lubrication.

High Molecular Weight HA

The high molecular weight Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is provided at a lower concentration since its primary role is shock absorption, while the low molecular weight HA is supplied at a higher concentration to support additional functions.

How is RenehaVis™ administered?

The administration and re-administration of RenehaVis™ depend on the patient’s osteoarthritis (OA) condition, as assessed by trained healthcare practitioners. The recommended dosage regimen involves injecting RenehaVis™ into the affected synovial joint space once a week for up to three injections, depending on the severity of the joint’s degenerative changes.

Before administering, the skin around the injection site should be cleaned thoroughly with an antiseptic and allowed to dry. RenehaVis™ is delivered via intra-articular injection, ensuring precise entry into the synovial capsule. Techniques may vary based on patient and practitioner preference, with ultrasound or fluoroscopy-guided methods recommended, especially for injections into the hip joint.

How safe is RenehaVis™?

There were no serious adverse events during the clinical study. Non-serious adverse events included pain and local swelling at the injection site (21%), erythema at the injection site (12%), and stiffness in the index knee (7%) amongst all groups.
